canned motor pump and magnetic drive pump shaft sleeve 317L
| Name: | canned motor pump and magnetic drive pump shaft sleeve 317L |
Product Description
Advantages of 317L Stainless Steel Shaft Sleeve for Canned Motor Pumps
317L is low‑carbon austenitic stainless steel with high molybdenum content, widely adopted as shaft sleeve for canned motor pumps, normally mated with graphite sliding bearings.
Advantages
1. Superior corrosion resistance over 316L, good pitting resistance against chloride ions
Higher molybdenum content improves pitting and crevice‑corrosion performance, suitable for chloride‑containing media, seawater, organic acids and dilute corrosive salt solutions. Low‑carbon structure prevents inter‑granular corrosion during operation and after welding.
2. Excellent toughness and impact resistance
Compared with brittle silicon‑carbide ceramics, 317L will not chip or crack. It withstands occasional foreign‑particle impact and frequent start‑stop cycles, delivering higher reliability for canned motor pump service.
3. Convenient assembly & maintenance
Good ductility ensures stable machining tolerance. Resists minor damage during installation and disassembly. Spare‑part cost is lower than SiC, reducing overall maintenance expense.
4. Broad operating temperature range
‑40~250 °C, resistant to thermal shock under temperature‑cycling chemical‑process conditions.
Limitations
1. Moderate surface hardness and poor wear performance. Must work with graphite bearings. Hard particles in process fluid will easily scratch and wear the sleeve. Clean particle‑free medium is required.
2. Not resistant to concentrated hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid and hot concentrated strong alkali. Inferior to SiC under severe corrosion conditions.
3. Pitting risk remains under extremely high chloride concentration.
Applications
Canned motor pumps for seawater, chloride‑containing media, organic acid and salt solutions. Suitable for clean particle‑free fluid with frequent start‑stop cycles, where ceramic‑part fracture risk shall be avoided.
Note: Silicon‑carbide sleeve is preferred for particle‑laden media and long service‑life requirement. 317L sleeve is recommended for frequent start‑stop and clean‑medium conditions.
