Some misunderstandings in the maintenance of mechanical seals


1. the greater amount of spring compression, better sealing effect. In fact, excessive compression spring can lead to rapid wear friction, instantaneous burning; excessive compression spring loses its ability to adjust ring face, resulting in seal failure. 
 2. ring seals more tightly as possible. In fact, dynamic tight ring seals harmful. One is the increased wear, sealing ring and sleeve premature leakage; two is to increase the dynamic axial adjustment of the resistance movement, the frequent changes in working conditions can not adjust; three spring fatigue is easy to damage; the four is to make dynamic ring seal deformation, affecting sealing effect. 
 3. static ring seals more tightly as possible. Static seal ring is basically in a static state, the relatively tight sealing effect will be better, but too tight is harmful. One is caused by static seal due to excessive deformation, affecting sealing effect; two static ring materials are mostly of graphite, are generally more brittle, vulnerable to excessive stress caused by fragmentation; three is to install, difficult to remove, easy to damage the static ring. 
 4. impeller lock nut tightening the better. Mechanical seal leakage, leakage between the sleeve and the shaft (inter axis leakage) is relatively common. Generally, the impeller shaft between the leak is not the lock master lock, in fact lead to inter axis leakage of many factors, such as axial pad failure, migration, axis there are impurities, shaft and sleeve with a larger form bit error, contact surface damage, shaft gap between the parts, the first thread long will lead to inter axis leakage. Lock nut lock will only lead to excessive axial pad between premature failure, on the contrary a moderate locked mother, so that axis pad compression always maintain a certain flexibility in the operation of the lock master will automatically lock the right time, so that the shaft is always in good sealed state. 
5. new better than old. Relatively speaking, the use of new mechanical seal is better than the old, but the quality of the new mechanical seal material selection or not at that time, with the larger size of the error will affect the sealing effect; and permeability in the polymerization medium, such as static ring without excessive wear, or not replaced at all. Because the static ring in a static ring seat in a long time in the stationary state, so that deposition of polymers and impurities as a whole, played a good sealing effect. 
6. overhaul is better than the old good. Once the mechanical seal leakage will be eager to overhaul, in fact, sometimes closed and no damage, only need to adjust the operation or the appropriate adjustments can be sealed to eliminate leakage.
